Education and training
Ivana studied biochemistry at the Comenius University of Science in Bratislava (Slovakia). She obtained her Master Degree in May 2011. Her master degree research focused on the analysis of CpMTF1 gene encoding the subunit of mitochondrial RNA polymerase from the pathogen yeast Candida parapsilosis.
Research activity
Since November 1st 2011 Ivana started to work as a PhD student at FEM-IASMA in the research group of Biodiversity and Environment under the supervision of Dr. Annapaola Rizzoli in FEM and Dr. Markéta Derdáková, at the Institute of Zoology Slovak Academy of Sciences.
Ivana will mainly work on the investigation of the emergence and spread of tick-borne diseases such as Anaplasma, Babesia, Borrelia and Rickettsia, their genetic variability and the determination of the geographical distribution in Ixodes ricinus ticks as well as reservoir hosts in Trentino area. Part of her research is also to compare her results with the results achieved by the collaborators at the Slovak Academy of Sciences.
