Education and training
Marina studied Plant Biotechnology at University of Milan, Italy, where she obtained her Masters degree in 2008. Her research involved the characterization of a maize mutant affected in seedling development including molecular and histological analysis. As Erasmus student she spent 4 months at the Drs. Petra Bauer laboratory at University of Saarland, Saarbruecken (Germany) where she performed practical studies and laboratory practice training.
Research activity
Marina joined Dr. Azeddine Si-Ammour laboratory in January 2009 as a PhD student. She is investigating the post transcriptional control of gene expression in grape, with a particular interest in small RNAs. Her work consists in the identification of the small RNAs classes in grape and the understanding of their biological function. The identification of genes regulated at the post-transcriptional level will help design novel strategies for pest control and development of grapevine varieties.
