Education and Training
Chidananda Nagamangala Kanchiswamy studied Agricultural biotechnology at the University of Agricultural sciences, Bangalore (India), where he got his masters degree. After his Masters, Chidananda did a PhD at the University of Turin in Torino (Italy), supervised by Prof. Massimo Maffei.
Chidananda did his PhD research on the Role of Arabidopsis Calcium dependent protein kinases in herbivore response signaling cascades.
He spent most of his PhD research at Max Planck Institute for chemical ecology Jena and Center for Ecological Research Institute, Kyoto University (Japan), under the supervision of Prof Wilhelm Boland and Dr. Gen Arimura respectively.
Research activity
Since March 2011 Chidananda has begun his postdoc (Marie Curie COFUND postdoc incoming 2010) in the AppleEra TransVol project, at the Transformation and Tissue Culture group FEM-IASMA.
The project entitled “Investigating apple transcriptome and volatile organic compound changes in response to infection of Erwinia amylovora wild type and mutants” the project aims to understand the role of different effectors pathogenic of Erwinia amylovora during the interaction with plant. The originality of this project is that we will have on overview on the different molecular mechanism induce by this different effectors in apple but also to see if they have an effect on the emission of volatile compound by the leaves and flowers.
