General information

A basic course in population genetics that will provide fundamentals on:

  • Classical Population Genetics
  • Molecular Population Genetics
  • Quantitative Genetics
  • Complex traits
  • Landscape Genomics

Number of participants: maximum 30
 

Location: CEA, Le Viote del Monte Bondone.

Schedule: The daily schedule is 9h00 to 17h00 for all the 5 days of the course.

Requirements: Basic on statistics and mathematics is assumed for the course. No specific knowledge of population genetics is required.

Participants are asked to bring their own laptop and to install the necessary softwares and data sets one week before the course starts (participants will be notified directly by e-mail).

Material: Text Book, “A Primer of Population Genetics” Daniel L. Hartl. The text book is provided for free to all participants.

The school is mandatory for GMPF students but it is also open to other PhD students. Postdoc and researchers are equally welcome. Participants other than GMPF students can attend for free but accommodation expenses cannot be covered. 

Accommodation: Hotel Montana (Chalet Caminetto, www.hotelmontana.it), from Monday 2 to Friday 6. Breakfast and dinners are at the hotel. For lunch, there will be sandwiches brought to CEA by the hotel staff which can be paid with the lunch Tronic card or cash.

External participants wishing to reserve a room at the hotel should contact the hotel directly (info@hotelmontana.it)

From Trento, you can also reach CEA by bus: Autostazione Piedicastello Bus 202  (7.45-8.40 + 10min walk to Viote). From Bondone: 16:40 or 19.40.
