To investigate the effect of changes in microbiome diversity on hosts and vice versa using innovative genetic, epigenetic and evolutionary approaches, with micromammals and rodent-borne viral communities developed as model systems. This research will give insight into micro-organism community composition, ecology, and virulence, and their effect on immune system function, behaviour and evolutionary potential (including speciation) of small mammal species.
