Gene Expression and Pathway Reconstruction - Evolution Day

Organizers: Alessandro Cestaro, Duccio Cavalieri, FEM

Evolution Day - Organizers: Omar Rota Stabelli, Lino Ometto, FEM

General information

The aim of the 2012 GMPF bioinformatics summer school is to show  PhD students the main topics, problems and possible solutions related to the study of gene expression and gene function by means NGS data.

More widely the school will explore the concept of "function" by the integration of different source of data and the implementation of different data models to infer metabolic pathways.

Key feature of the lectures will be the critical approach to the result assessment and to the  experimental plan definition.

The last part of the course will be devoted to phylogeny and molecular

evolution facing the main tools and data interpretation models in a

practical and critical way.

The school is mandatory for GMPF students but it is also open to students of other PhD schools in the fields of biotechnology, biology and bioinformatics; postdoc and researchers of the same fields are equally welcome.

Requirements: Good knowledge in molecular biology, genetics and genomics is assumed for the course. Lectures will be held in English.
